Yu Garden, Shanghai

My first “postcard” from Shanghai – the Yu Garden. Established in 1559 as a private garden by a high-ranking official of the Ming Dynasty, it is a “quiet” (relative term) place in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city of Shanghai […that is, it WOULD be quiet if there weren’t any tour groups!].

The garden consists of beautiful pavilions and walkways wandering through carefully landscaped ponds, bridges and rocky outcrops. It is one of our favourite places in Shanghai.
