The fruit of the vine

I took the day off work today – well, most of the day – I still felt obliged to play a few rounds of email-email and deal with a few crises and keep my eye on some delegated tasks. I hope that this extra day off once a week might become a regular event and that it will help to maintain at least a few extra degrees of sanity on a long-term basis 🙂

Here’s the “fruit” of my day’s labour – painted from my very own bunch of grapes!

Fruit of the Vine

Colours are Winsor Violet, and a dash of Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Magenta, Aliz Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Sap Green & Sepia.

I took things slowly, stopped and watched, and waited for the layers to dry….well, most of the time!

  1. Nice work Alena. Waiting for layers to dry is something I have problems with. Hope all your extra days off are painting days.

  2. Oops, sorry Dawn. Got my artist friends mixed up. Please forgive me.

  3. This has really worked Dawn… amazing what a bit of patience can do…. it’s interesting that painting skill is as much to do with what you don’t do (ie leave alone when still wet and don’t fiddle!!) as what you do in fact probably more!!!

    • I think I’m making some – a little – progress in the “DO NOT TOUCH” lesson, Judith – I had to laugh when I read your post about stopping one of the guys in your workshop from interfering with what the paint was doing on the paper:) – I could just picture his surprised/shocked/scared expression!
